Edwards House

Tyler and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on October 23rd, and we decided 5 years deserved a mini vacay.  So I left Thea overnight for the first time (we all survived), and Tyler and I headed up to Ft. Collins for the weekend.  Ft. Collins, not such a romantic destination, you may say.  Yes, true, but we had been wanting to visit New Belgium and Odell Breweries and this seemed like a fun adult-only opportunity.  We were fortunate to get squeezed into tours at both breweries Saturday afternoon.  New Belgium, by far the larger operation, was our favorite tour (the most free beer, so duh!).  We enjoyed the perfect fall weather meandering through downtown Ft. Collins; quaint and very "small town", it reminded us of our hometown of Columbus, GA :)  We ended our Saturday with a lovely evening at Jay's Bistro.  The food was ok - I enjoyed the appetizer and soup immensely and the entree and dessert only so-so.  However, the atmosphere was top-notch.  They must have known we were coming because they had live jazz playing from the bar, complete with an excellent pianist and female vocalist - by far my favorite part of the evening! In my opinion, though, our accommodations made the weekend truly special.  The list of places to stay in Ft. Collins wasn't expansive, and the Edwards House kept popping up in my search.  One click to the website and I was sold.  From their website:

Elegantly appointed and radiating a sense of style and grace, the historic Edwards House provides discerning guests with a special and differentiated experience. We invite you to revel in the inn’s stunning decor, warm ambience, and personalized service.

The inn was renovated just last year, with absolutely stunning results.  Design details hit all of today's classic design trends while also paying homage to the inn's historic architecture.  Rich walnut millwork, crystal and brass lighting and hardware, carrera marble finishes throughout - the entire place is a designer's dream!
